Its repeat pairs birds perched face to face with birds in flight; this print shows the perched pair, and makes a pair with Bird, In Flight.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHang it beside its partner, \u003ca href=\"\/en-intl\/products\/bird-in-flight-william-morris-textile-print\"\u003eBird, In Flight\u003c\/a\u003e, in the same size and frame.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCropped to show the weave edge to edge with no border, so it reads as a panel of the design itself rather than a sample.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWilliam Morris (1834-1896) was a designer, poet and campaigner who did more than anyone to found the Arts and Crafts movement. In 1861 he set up the decorating firm that became Morris \u0026amp; Co., and over the next thirty years designed some fifty wallpapers and many more textiles, drawn from the plants of the English countryside and from the medieval tapestries and manuscripts he loved. His patterns have never gone out of print.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTaken from a high-resolution photograph of a surviving original, cleaned of dust and marks but otherwise left as it was made.
