Many of its drawings sit on the open white page with no frame or background, which gives the book its light, airy look.

Jean de Brunhoff (1899-1937) was a Paris painter who invented Babar from a bedtime story his wife Cécile told their two young sons. He painted the first book, Histoire de Babar, in 1931, and six more followed, the last two published after his death at 37. Printed large, in the generous album format he chose, with his own handwriting in place of type, they became some of the best-loved picture books ever made.

Reproduced from a high-resolution scan of an original page, with Brunhoff's colours left exactly as they were printed and nothing redrawn. Made to order on heavyweight cotton-fibre archival paper and sold at a single size, mounted with an equal border all round and framed in-house.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0886/6414/6261/files/gallery-0_fa2ef476-9106-48e8-b4c7-498e9bb0e4f1.jpg?v=1792839862
https://theposteredit.com/en-us/products/babar-the-camel-and-the-birds-histoire-de-babar-jean-de-brunhoff-babar-print
