Its Grand Prix has been run on closed streets through the middle of it since 1933, which makes it one of the oldest surviving street circuits anywhere - tight, walled and unforgiving.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGrand Prix racing in France was run on closed public roads long before purpose-built circuits were normal, which is why the posters look like town advertisements rather than sports bills - the event and the place were the same thing. A win carried straight into the following season's sales, and the manufacturers made sure of it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWorked up from a high-resolution scan of an original impression, with mount board and scanning marks taken out so only the artwork is printed.
