Buick 1904-1929 - 25 années en tête du progrès... - an original poster by René Vincent, 1929.

Buick is the oldest American marque still in production and was the company General Motors was built around. This poster marks its twenty-fifth year, the point at which American manufacturers were pressing hardest into a European market their scale allowed them to undercut.

Trained as an architect at the École des Beaux-Arts, René Vincent brought a draughtsman's precision to commercial art and became one of the defining illustrators of the French motoring age. He worked for Peugeot, Bugatti, Michelin and the oil companies, and his elongated, sharply observed figures capture the between-the-wars bourgeoisie at its most self-assured.

Reproduced from a high-resolution scan of an original printing, cleaned of mounting and scanning artefacts so nothing but the poster reaches the paper. Each print is made to order on heavyweight cotton-fibre archival paper. Mounts and frames are cut and finished by hand in our workshop.
