The cotton anniversary, on actual cotton fibre

Two years of marriage. Cotton, traditionally — and most cotton-anniversary gifts on the high street are a cotton tea towel or a cotton tote bag with a heart printed on it. Ours is different: our prints are made on cotton-fibre archival paper. Real cotton rag in the sheet, not wood pulp. The same paper specification used by the best fine-art print studios in London and New York, because cotton-fibre paper holds ink better, sits flatter, and lasts longer than anything made from tree fibre.

Pick the print — the map of where you live now, the night sky from a date that matters, the lyrics of a song you both come back to — and the cotton tradition is woven (literally) into the paper itself.

About

Why cotton-fibre paper matters for the 2nd anniversary

The 2nd wedding anniversary tradition in the UK is cotton. Most cotton-anniversary gifts on the market lean into the textile reading — cushions, tea towels, embroidered hankies — which is fine if that's the gift you want. But there is a second, equally valid reading: the paper itself. The best fine-art papers in the world are made not from wood pulp but from cotton rag, the same fibre that goes into a cotton shirt. The Library of Congress, the V&A, and every museum that takes preservation seriously holds works on cotton-fibre paper for a reason — it does not yellow, does not embrittle, and holds ink with a depth that wood-pulp paper cannot match.

Our archival paper is 310gsm cotton-fibre. So when we say 'a cotton anniversary gift', we mean a print whose paper is, literally, woven from cotton. A keepsake that will look the same on the 50th anniversary as it does on the 2nd.

01

General

Is the paper really cotton?
Yes — our archival print stock is cotton-fibre rather than wood-pulp. The cotton goes into the sheet itself, the way fine-art and museum papers are made.
Can I see the paper before I buy?
We send a paper sample on request — drop us a note via the contact page.
What if my partner expects something textile-y?
Both readings of the cotton anniversary are valid. If you want a textile gift we are not the right shop. If you want a personalised print on actual cotton-fibre paper, you are in the right place.
How long does it take?
3-5 working days unframed, 5-7 working days framed.
