Choose your framed finish

Family photos, framed properly

Some photographs deserve more than the back of a phone roll. The cards above let you pick the framed finish that suits the image — traditional mounted, float mounted, oversized mount, or a larger statement frame. Every one is printed and hand-framed in our UK studio.

HOW IT WORKS

Made by hand, finished like a gallery.

Built to last decades

Pigment inks on cotton-rag paper, acid-free conservation mount, solid wood frame. A family photograph framed this way still looks the same in twenty years.

Any image you have

Old scanned print, phone snap, professional shoot. Upload it in the designer above and live preview shows exactly how the framed result will look before you order.

Hand-made in our UK studio

Printed, mounted and framed by us. No outsourcing, no flat-pack frame from a warehouse. Every order built individually.

About

A framed family photo is one of the few decorative objects people keep for life. Done properly, it outlives the wall it hangs on. We print every family photograph on archival 310gsm cotton-rag paper, mount it behind a conservation card mount, and hand-frame it in solid wood — the same construction galleries use for fine-art photography.

Why bother with archival framing for a family photo?

Standard photo prints fade. Standard frames buckle, yellow the mount, and pull the print out of flat over a few years. Conservation mounts are acid-free so they will not stain the paper. Pigment inks on cotton-rag paper resist fading for decades. Solid wood mouldings stay flat. The point is not technical — the point is that the family photograph on your wall in twenty years should still look like the family photograph you framed today.

Which finish suits a family photo?

For a single hero portrait — a black-and-white shot, a posed family group, a candid wedding photograph — the traditional card mount keeps the focus on the faces and gives the image a quiet, classical presentation. For colour-heavy snapshots and informal shots, the float mounted finish presents the photograph as artwork, edges visible, sitting proud of the backing board. For a single image you want to dominate the room, the larger framed sizes or oversized mount option lend serious wall presence. Use the comparison cards above to pick.

Made in the UK, made by us

Every framed family photograph we ship is printed, mounted, and framed in our UK studio. Not outsourced, not flat-packed, not assembled from stock parts. The frame is built to size from Italian solid-wood mouldings, the mount is hand-cut to a window around the image, and the print comes off our own equipment on archival paper. The kind of finish you would commission privately, made available as a standard product.

01

About framed family photos

Can I print and frame an old family photo?

Yes. Scan or photograph the original at the highest resolution your scanner or phone allows, then upload it in the designer above. We can advise on whether the file will hold up at the size you want before you order.

What size frame is right for a family photograph?

For a single hero portrait above a fireplace or sofa, the larger framed sizes work well. For a console table or shelf, a smaller traditional mounted frame fits naturally. For a series of family portraits hung together, pick a single size and order matching frames so the set stays visually consistent.

Will the frame survive a family home?

Solid wood mouldings from Italian suppliers, acrylic glazing rather than glass (lighter and shatter-resistant), conservation card mount that will not buckle or yellow. Built for daily wear, not just a gallery hang.

02

Paper, frames, finish

What paper do you print on?

310gsm cotton-rag paper as standard — archival, acid-free, with fade-resistant pigment inks. The same paper used by museums and limited-edition print houses.

Is the frame real wood?

Yes. Solid-wood mouldings from Italian suppliers, hand-finished and built to size in our UK studio. No MDF, no plastic.

Can I order matching frames for a gallery wall?

Yes. Order multiple frames at the same size and we will build them from the same wood stock for visual parity across the set.
