The 5th wedding anniversary is wood — and most 'wood anniversary' gifts you'll find online are MDF stained to look like oak, or a photo of a wooden plaque with a name burnt into it. Ours is the actual material: solid oak or walnut moulding, cut to size and joined by hand in our London framing studio. The print inside the frame is yours to design — a map of where you live now, a star map from your wedding night, a song lyric print of your first dance.

It is the kind of gift that sits on the wall and quietly tells the right story for the next twenty years: hand-made, in actual wood, with the meaningful thing inside.

Wood, the long version of the anniversary tradition

In the UK tradition list, the 5th anniversary is wood. In the modern (US) list, the 6th is wood, with wood appearing again at later years too. Both lists agree the early-to-mid years lean on natural materials that age — wood being the standout. It is the anniversary at which the gift moves from 'sweet' (paper, cotton) to 'permanent' (wood, then stone, then metal): a thing that will be hanging in 30 years.

Why we frame by hand

We could drop-ship pre-cut frames from a warehouse. We don't — every frame on this page is cut, mitred, glued and finished in our own framing room in London. It costs more and takes longer, and the result is the difference between a 5th-anniversary gift that lasts and one that doesn't.

Is the frame really wood?
Yes — solid oak or walnut moulding, not veneered MDF. Cut and joined by hand in our London studio.
Can I choose the wood?
Yes. Our wood mouldings come in natural oak, dark walnut, and ash. Pick at checkout.
What's the difference between the 5th and 6th wood anniversary?
UK tradition puts wood at year 5, US modern lists at year 6. Either way, wood is the material — and this page covers both.
How long does a hand-framed order take?
5-7 working days. The wood is cut to size for each order rather than from stock frames.
