Description

Create a custom old os map of anywhere in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). Personalise your own ordnance survey historical map with your chosen location. We have an extensive collection of thousands of high resolution scans of original historical ordnance survey maps that accurately show roads, buildings, landmarks, etc from over a century ago.

We offer several professionally framed options, however, if you have a specific requirement we offer bespoke framing and size solutions for projects big or small. We also offer several other old maps that are not available online so please contact us if you have any requests for maps of specific time periods and we can provide you with options. Message us for further information or request an appointment at our studio in London.

Each sheet has been carefully joined together to form a full join-less map of the entirety of Great Britain. Whilst every effort has been made to accurately align each sheet using the known boundaries of Ordnance Survey historical maps, there may however be some areas that don't line up exactly. This is partly because maps from a century ago were not surveyed nor intended to be used with the greater accuracy of present-day technologies, but also potentially due to the warping of paper map sheets over time.

Media

Our 310gsm cotton rag paper has impeccable archival qualities as it has low levels of optical brighteners, is acid free and contains 100% cotton rag fibres, which are longer, stronger and more durable than wood fibres (alpha cellulose). Designed for high quality fine art & photographic inkjet reproduction, offering vibrant colour and a high D-MAX for monochrome prints. This paper will ensure a print life of more than 85 years, meeting the Fine Art Trade Guild lightfastness requirements of '6 or more on the Blue Wool Scale'.

Glazing

To protect our prints from light damage and bleaching, we present them behind a layer of cast acrylic. A high quality material, it offers many benefits: including 92% optical clarity. What is more, as it is shatter-resistant, it is much safer than glass in your home or workplace.
